Viviane Sassen's First Signing Event in Japan
The latest photobook "Sol & Luna" by Dutch photographer Viviane Sassen, whose work garners intense global interest, has been released by the Scandinavian publisher "LIBRARYMAN." To commemorate its publication, a signing event—the first of its kind in Japan—will be held on Friday, May 10th, at VACANT in Jingumae.

Photographed the Covers of Shiseido's Corporate Culture Magazine "Hanatsubaki" for One Year
Hailing from Amsterdam, Netherlands, Viviane Sassen has previously created campaign visuals for fashion brands such as Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton, and more recently for Carven and Missoni. Her career took a pivotal turn in 2002 with a reunion with Africa, where she spent her childhood. Her photographs, capturing Black men and women through her unique lens, earned her acclaim, leading to her work being featured on catalog covers and in advertisements at Paris Photo in 2011, marking her as a photographer with significant future potential.
In Japan, she undertook a year-long cover project for Shiseido's corporate culture magazine "Hanatsubaki," titled "12 Faces," featuring ordinary women as models. This is a signing event by an artist currently at the height of her acclaim.

The newly released "Sol & Luna" is a concept book compiling works shot for the Scandinavian menswear brand "OUR LEGACY." Centered around the theme of "sun and moon," it expresses the beauty of "androgyny" by having female models wear menswear. The first edition, published in 2009, was met with immense acclaim and sold out rapidly, despite a limited print run of only 300 copies. This is the second edition.
On the day of the event, all purchasers of related books will receive a signature from Viviane Sassen, along with a set of the "Hanatsubaki" April/May combined issue and the latest June issue, both featuring her cover art. Her photographs, a fusion of art and fashion, exude rich sensibility and intellect. We encourage you to experience them firsthand.
