LOUNGE | Enjoy an Autumn of Reading at Toranomon Hills


Featuring a Used Book Market and Mobile Bookstores: Diverse Book Vendors Gather from Across Japan.


Toranomon Hills is hosting a series of engaging events under the theme "OUR PARKS," centered on the concept of "Let's create our space together." On October 28th (Sat.) and 29th (Sun.), the venue will present its first-ever "OUR PARKS 'TORANOMON BOOK PARADISE'" event. Approximately 20 vendors, including popular new and used bookstores, publishers, and shops selling reading-related goods from across Japan, will gather. The event also offers a wealth of content for book lovers, such as workshops and talk sessions related to books.

Workshops on Printing and Paper for All Ages


A dream market for book lovers, by book lovers, and for book lovers is coming to Toranomon Hills. This is a not-to-be-missed two-day event where a wide range of booths, from new and used bookstores to popular publishers and shops selling goods for readers, will gather. Special guests from all over the country, including the mobile bookstore "BOOK TRUCK" and the "Ichihako Furuhon Ichi" (One-Box Used Book Market) where book lovers bring their own used books in a cardboard box, will be present, offering a diverse lineup. Furthermore, workshop booths focusing on printing and paper, enjoyable for both adults and children, will also be featured.


For this inaugural event, with Shintaro Uchiyama serving as coordinator, a diverse lineup will gather, including those from newly opened bookstores, popular bookstores, publishers, and vendors who are regulars at events, as well as reading-related goods. It promises to be a valuable space for interaction, bringing together book lovers from across the nation.

To give you a glimpse of the content, first, there's the "Ichihako Furuhon Ichi" (One-Box Used Book Market), which is already popular among book lovers. This is a popular market where amateur book lovers bring their own used books in a cardboard box. The appeal lies in the glimpse into the seller's tastes and preferences revealed by the box's contents, and the discoveries made through the unique arrangement of books and their themes. It's this depth, like peeking into the mind of someone with a different reading history, that has garnered its popularity.


In addition, the event features the appearance of a "mobile bookstore," talk sessions with acclaimed novelists and web magazine editors, and various book-related workshops—making for a packed schedule. This autumn, why not head to Toranomon in search of new encounters?
