Talk Event with Photographer Osamu Yokonami and Book Director Mitsutaka Fukui to be Held at Tsutaya Books
Photographer Osamu Yokonami has released his new photo books, 'Assembly' and 'Sasayama'. To commemorate this, a talk event with Yokonami and book director Mitsutaka Fukui will be held on Monday, September 28th, at Daikanyama Tsutaya Books.

'Assembly' Captures the Richness of Expression Revealed Through Collectivity
Osamu Yokonami, born in Kyoto in 1967, is active in fields such as magazines like 'FIGARO japon' and 'Milk,' advertising, fashion, and portraiture. While working on a wide range of projects, he creates works that focus on the 'individual' and the 'collective.' His representative works include '1000 Children,' which features photographs of 1000 children wearing the same clothing.
This time, he has released 'Sasayama' from the Swedish publisher LBRARYMAN and the self-published 'Assembly.' In 'Assembly,' he photographs girls dressed in the same clothing as they scatter, gather, and line up in natural settings. The richness of expression that emerges from the collective is captured within the images.
'Sasayama,' published in a limited edition of 400 copies, also features girls in uniform spending time freely in the rich natural landscape of Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture. Their sensitivity, curiosity, and even joy are expressed, and the book has already garnered significant popularity overseas.
To commemorate the release of these two books, a talk event featuring Yokonami and book director Mitsutaka Fukui, who heads the curation group 'BACH,' will be held on Monday, September 28th. The two long-time acquaintances will discuss the appeal of the new works.
Additionally, Daikanyama Tsutaya Books will host a special fair for Yokonami's work until Sunday, October 4th. Prints from 'Assembly' will be available for purchase in two different six-cut sizes, and 'Sasayama,' which has limited distribution in Japan, will also be on display.
