"BÉSAME MUCHO" Exclusively Available at BOOKMARC

Tomoo Gokita was born in Tokyo in 1969. In the late 1990s, he gained attention for his spontaneously drawn works. In recent years, while presenting concrete motifs such as portraits rendered in black and white, his work often consists of abstract paintings. In addition to his activities in Japan, he has participated in exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, and other international venues, earning high acclaim. In 2016, he is scheduled for his second solo exhibition at Mary Boone Gallery in New York.

"BÉSAME MUCHO," which will be exclusively sold at BOOKMARC in Japan, is a catalog from his solo exhibition held in April at the Honor Fraser Gallery in Los Angeles, which was met with great success. It features 16 new monochrome large-scale works. "777," a collection of drawings to be released first at BOOKMARC, compiles 777 drawings created between 2006 and 2015. It is a substantial volume of 784 pages, five centimeters thick. The works, which were displayed as a collection in the exhibition, are presented one per page in this book. This marks Gokita's first collection of drawings since "Lingerie Wrestling."


The book launch party at BOOKMARC will be held on Friday, August 7th, from 6:00 PM onwards in an open format. The author's book signing will also take place during the event.
