Mikiji Nagai, who is active as a graphic designer and also curates collections and holds events with a unique perspective, started 'Kobutsu' in 2017. This popular event will be held from Saturday, September 17th at the brewery pub "FIVE TREES" in Meguro, Tokyo.

The exhibition 'Kobutsu' was born from Nagai's realization that 'Antiques, through the process of collection, live longer than human lifespans. They remain not because a single person manages them, but because they have been passed down and cherished by many hands.'
This initiative, which exhibits and sells the items he has collected over many years (including folk art, souvenirs, accessories, toys, and lucky charms from Japan and abroad) along with their stories, has gained popularity and has been held a total of eight times since 2017.
This ninth iteration, titled 'Kobutsu 9 feat. KUMI KOSUGE,' is a collaboration with embroidery artist Kumi Kosuge. Held at "FIVE TREES," known for its craft beer, the exhibition will feature approximately 300 antique items alongside 8 of Kosuge's embroidery works. Additionally, during the exhibition period, food events will be held featuring Kensuke Takagi of "BLOCK HOUSE Suiyo Curry" and Kuniko Takebayashi of "beet eat," who are acquainted with Nagai. Spicy snacks (Takagi) and curry (Takebayashi) are planned. Visitors can enjoy food and drinks while experiencing Nagai's aesthetic sensibility and the stories embedded in the objects. It promises to be a meaningful time.
