Art in Everyday Life

A large mural by contemporary artist Yudai Nishi adorns a corner of the office. Yet, when you survey the entire space, the striking mural harmonizes with its surroundings without feeling out of place. The reason lies in the collection of artworks displayed throughout the expansive area. The visual rhythm they create transforms the office atmosphere, which could easily become stark, into something stimulating and fresh. We visited the office of the creative production company 'Holyday.' We asked CEO Shinsuke Sato about the relationship with art that has developed through using Art Technologies.

A Stimulating Space

Originally, the office had neither murals nor artworks. Sato recalls that when they moved, they planned to renovate the interior themselves and create a space they were passionate about, which is when they encountered Art Technologies.
"It started with a consultation with Art Technologies about what we could do with a large wall in our company. From there, it led to commissioning a mural, and the project began with conveying the company's vision and my personal aspirations to the artist, Mr. Nishi. Introducing art has improved the company's atmosphere and created an environment that stimulates creativity. The fact that job applications approximately tripled after introducing the mural and art is a good example of realizing the power of art. Nowadays, I can't imagine a landscape without art in the company; it would lack stimulation."
We decided to test how much the impression of the space could change. As you can see in the photos below, the iconic art brings color to the space, transforming the office's monotonous atmosphere.

An Aesthetic Sensibility Polished by Art

The office displayed not only paintings but also three-dimensional works. Sato says that he became captivated by art, starting with Nishi's mural. The changes that occurred in the process further shortened the distance to art.
"Honestly, I didn't fully appreciate the value of art at first. But as I saw more pieces, I began to feel, 'I like this,' or 'I can relate to this approach.' With Mr. Nishi, his personality is also so charming that I quickly became a fan. Learning about the artist's perspective and the stories he envisions deepened my understanding of his work even further."
Continuously viewing a diverse range of artworks seems to define what constitutes 'good' in a piece, ultimately refining one's aesthetic sensibility. Sato adds that Art Technologies' benefits extend beyond this.
"Beyond regularly seeing and experiencing various works, the subscription service offers other advantages. It provides opportunities to discover artists I wouldn't have encountered otherwise. The curator shares not only the artwork but also its background and information about the artist, fostering interest in a wide array of art. When you have zero knowledge, it's hard to know what to choose, but with proper guidance, you can use the service with confidence. If you find something you like, you can also purchase it, which reduces the risk of making a bad art purchase, adding to the peace of mind."
The initial appeal of a subscription lies in encountering works and artists you resonate with, and then deepening your appreciation for art centered around them. This accumulation fosters a positive relationship with art and broadens one's perspective. For those considering introducing art into their workplace or interested in purchasing artworks, why not begin your journey with art through Art Technologies?

-ABOUT NEWEN-
We will hold our first curated exhibition at BAF (Baff), a gallery studio that opened in Nihonbashi Bakurocho in 2020.

This exhibition, titled "NEWEN," features a curation of three artists who have never collaborated before, showcasing their representative works, including new pieces. Yukiko Yamazaki, known for her paintings with peculiar compositions. wimp, who primarily presents installation works created through various methods such as painting, prints, video, and 3D printed sculptures. And Nana Soeda, who, despite limited exhibition experience, was selected for "ART STARTUP 100" held at Hillside Forum in Daikanyama last September, gaining popularity for her unique character paintings and outstanding animation works.

Additionally, the venue will display waste materials from the production process and trash generated in daily life. By visualizing the consumption from idea to artwork, visitors can see the "flesh and blood" of a work, something not usually visible.

We invite you to experience the consumption and circulation of energy by artists living in the present day.
