Ceramic Artist Yuko Okazaki and Hayama Artists Gather for "Yorishiro" Event
At UNDER THE PALMO Hayama, the solo exhibition "Yorishiro" featuring ceramic artist Yuko Okazaki and artists from Hayama is being held. The exhibition runs from Friday, April 15th to Sunday, April 24th.
A Quartet of Water, Wind, Fire, and Earth
The exhibition "Yorishiro" is now open at UNDER THE PALMO Hayama. This is a four-person exhibition featuring ceramic artist Yuko Okazaki, alongside displays and sales of paintings, plants, and ceramics.
The exhibition's title, "Yorishiro," refers to that which a divine spirit inhabits when manifesting in the human world to convey its will. Examples include trees, stones, banners, pillars, and gohei (sacred Shinto streamers). It can also refer to those who hold sacred objects such as gohei made from sacred tree branches.
The paintings are presented by OHGUSHI, a sumi-e and watercolor artist. Working with two primary techniques—beautiful women in a watercolor style and unique watercolor depictions of flowers and natural beauty—OHGUSHI has handled numerous advertising campaigns for global brands.
The plants are presented by GRENATRED, whose studio is located in Taura. They specialize in green coordination, transforming spaces from gardens to interiors with their lush greenery.
The minerals are presented by KNML NURSERISE, a mineral jewelry artist. Inspired by a desire to convey the beauty of real minerals to children, they launched a handmade jewelry brand using natural stones like quartz.
And the ceramics are presented by ceramic artist Yuko Okazaki. Affiliated with Tomio Koyama Gallery, she is active across a wide range of fields. She held her first solo exhibition in 2009 and has since held numerous exhibitions in various locations.
The exhibition runs from Friday, April 15th to Sunday, April 24th, with free admission. On Sundays, April 17th and 24th, all four artists will be present from 1 PM to 4 PM. We encourage you to experience the unique and serene world created by the collaboration of these four artists.
