An innovative exhibition design creates a more original space

Fondation Louis Vuitton opened with great fanfare last October as a new hub for contemporary art. It's still fresh in our minds how the building, designed by Frank Gehry, known as a master of modern architecture, also garnered significant attention.

Launched on April 1, "Keys to a Passion" is an exhibition that reaffirms the foundation's commitment to its artistic endeavors, a core tenet of its founding philosophy. For this exhibition, renowned museums and collectors from around the world, including Russia's Hermitage Museum, New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and the UK's Tate Modern, have collaborated, lending special works that have been brought together here.

The venue showcases a curated selection of major works from the first half of the 20th century by artists who paved the way for modernity, such as Matisse, Francis Bacon, and Alberto Giacometti. These are organized into four themes: "Subjective Expressionism," "Observation," "Popism," and "Music." Furthermore, by juxtaposing iconic works with pieces that deviate from the "orthodox," the exhibition creates an innovative and unique spatial experience.

The Scream, 1910?

Masterpieces gathered from museums and institutions worldwide. Beyond our own "encounters" with art, this exhibition explores the chemical reactions that occur when masterpieces "meet" within the same space. It is a dreamlike exhibition, made possible by Louis Vuitton, that brings together pivotal works essential to art history.
