Kazumi Kurigami Photography Exhibition "SELF PORTRAIT" at B GALLERY, Shinjuku

Kazumi Kurigami, a photographer who has been at the forefront of expression across photography, magazines, advertising, and film since the 1960s. Her new photo exhibition, "SELF PORTRAIT," will be held at B GALLERY on the 6th floor of BEAMS JAPAN from Friday, April 10th.

Photobook "SELF PORTRAIT" Also Released

The "SELF PORTRAIT" exhibition will showcase and sell new works created through an innovative approach: layered prints of landscapes and commercial photographs taken since the 1970s, centered around portraits that Kurigami herself describes as "breathtaking views."

Many of the portraits Kurigami has lovingly captured feature individuals with close ties to BEAMS as subjects. While employing different methods, Kurigami, who has led Japan's fashion and culture scene, and BEAMS have joined forces to present new works in the form of a photo exhibition and photobook.

On Saturday, April 18th, starting at 3 PM, a talk show with Kazumi Kurigami will be held, featuring guest art director Satoru Machiguchi (MACHT&Co.) of the photobook "SELF PORTRAIT" (reservations required). Additionally, the reception party on Friday, April 10th, from 6 PM, is open to all.

Kazumi Kurigami
Photographer. Born in Furano, Hokkaido in 1936.
