Alexander is a British amateur photographer. Currently based in Tokyo, he works while employed by a company, pursuing his art as a "masked photographer" without revealing his full name or profile.

Alexander lived in Mumbai, India, for three years starting in 2010. While witnessing Mumbai's vibrant, hopeful side, he also encountered extreme wealth disparity, with average incomes below 500 yen per day. He captured these multifaceted realities of India through his camera.

Last autumn, Alexander, along with staff from the non-profit organization RIJ (Refugee International Japan), visited refugee camps near the Thai border housing over 100,000 displaced Myanmar ethnic minorities. He photographed their lives, living shoulder-to-shoulder in a land not their own, and the universal aspects of human existence.

All works exhibited this time are for sale, with profits to be channeled through RIJ to support refugees who have lost their homes due to war and conflict.

Regarding this exhibition, Alexander stated, "Solutions for widespread, ongoing poverty in India and elsewhere have yet to be found. However, it has shown me that optimism is never in vain, and the effort to accumulate small acts of assistance is truly important."

The exhibition is titled "Somewhat Optimistic." We hope that by accumulating what we can do, positive change will be brought to those living through inescapable hardships.
