Inspiration Drawn from the 'Galapagos of the East'

The exhibition features flower art created by Nicolai Bergmann inspired by the Amami Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture, alongside photographs taken in the region. Bergmann visited the islands for research, drawing inspiration from the subtropical forests inhabited by rare wildlife such as the Amami black rabbit and the Lidth's jay, the beautiful coral reefs, and interactions with local residents. A limited-edition flower box, 'AMAMI,' will also be available for purchase at the venue during the exhibition period.

The Amami Islands, comprising eight inhabited islands including Amami Oshima, Tokunoshima, and Yoronjima, are located between the Tokara Islands and the Okinawa Islands. Known as the 'Galapagos of the East' for their unique ecosystems, they are seeking designation as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.

The event is hosted by the Amami Islands Tourism and Products Association and organized by Vanilla Air as part of the 'IRODORI AMAMI' campaign to promote the charm of the Amami Islands.
