ART | "gift_lab GARAGE LOUNGE & EXHIBIT" Gallery Shop and Cafe Opens
Opens Saturday, February 7th in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, Tokyo
In Tokyo's Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, an area gaining attention for its concentration of galleries and cafes, "gift_lab GARAGE LOUNGE & EXHIBIT"—a space combining a cafe and gallery shop—will open on Saturday, February 7th.

A New Point of Interest in the Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Area
The establishment is by "gift_lab," a company that handles various designs related to spaces, from the physical environment to the content. They are broadly active in spatial design for commercial facilities, residences, and offices, as well as coordinating and directing exhibitions, planning and creative direction for art and design, and designing furniture and fixtures.
"gift_lab GARAGE LOUNGE & EXHIBIT," which serves as a cafe, gallery, design studio, and shop, is located in the former garage space of the Kiyosui Dormitory, an apartment building built around the same time as the Dojunkai Apartments. The space, constructed in 1933 and over 80 years old, has been self-renovated while preserving the charm of its historic architecture.
gift_lab alsoYamanoya, a cafe & dormitory in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecturehas opened, practicing a "double local life." Popular menu items from Yamanoya will also be offered at gift_lab GARAGE LOUNGE & EXHIBIT.
The gallery will feature genres such as art, design, architecture, cultural books and magazines, art books, and photo collections. Live performances, talks, and workshops will be held irregularly, and the space is also available for rent for exhibitions and events. The policy is to operate it as a hub for cultural dissemination and exchange.
With the opening of Blue Bottle Coffee's Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Roastery & Cafe around the same time as "gift_lab GARAGE LOUNGE & EXHIBIT," attention on the Kiyosumi-Shirakawa area is expected to grow even further.
