Works That Capture a Dreamlike State

Perhaps the moments guided by the Leica camera were the gateway to a dream. This exhibition features works shot by Shimamoto during his travels through three European countries—Poland, France, and the Czech Republic—using the Leica X Vario.

Takeshi Shimamoto, selected as one of “100 Japanese Photographers,” continues to create works that evoke the very scent, sound, and humidity of the moment, offering a sense of comfort and nostalgia akin to the subtle noise of a needle on an LP record.

This time, the concept is a feeling that lingers like a dream. By capturing fleeting moments of travel, the photographs allow viewers to re-enter that dreamlike state upon viewing. The monochrome images, capturing everyday instants, invite the imagination to construct cinematic narratives that precede and follow them.

Why not immerse yourself in the dreamlike world that Shimamoto creates?
