Grand Prize Winner Receives One-Year Loan of a BMW 7 Series
The "BMW × Leica Photo Competition," a collaboration born from Leica's 100th anniversary, centered on the theme "Century in Motion." Submissions were welcomed from both professionals and amateurs, capturing moments that transcend time, landscapes featuring BMWs, or scenes with Leicas.
On October 24, the awards ceremony took place at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, which sponsored the event. Representatives from BMW and Leica Camera Japan, the German Ambassador to Japan, and judges including broadcast writer and screenwriter Kundo Koyama and photographer Harvey Yamagushi were in attendance.
Kazutetsu Fukae, President of Leica Camera Japan, stated in his address, "Exactly 100 years ago, Oscar Barnack of Leica developed and introduced this camera to the world. This year, marking our 100th anniversary, Leica has held special events globally. We were fortunate to have BMW as a wonderful partner, making this photo competition possible. All submissions were of exceptionally high caliber, and we encourage you to take your time appreciating the winning works."
The grand prize included a one-year loan of a BMW 7 Series, along with other prestigious awards such as a Leica X Vario and a trip to Germany's World Heritage sites with Lufthansa German Airlines.
