ART | Limited-Time Art Seminar "THE MIRROR" Begins October 16 (Thu)
ART | The lecture series "Seminar" features an incredibly stellar lineup!
Limited-Time Art Seminar "THE MIRROR" Opens October 16 (Thursday)
The Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Building, located near Wako in Ginza 4-chome, Tokyo, is being demolished. In conjunction with this, a limited-time exhibition and art seminar (Art + Design + Book) called "THE MIRROR" will open on October 16 (Thursday), taking on the new name "THE MIRROR."
Text by KAJII Makoto (OPENERS)
An "By Appointment Only" Experience for Immersive Art Engagement
Only 400 people per day can experience "THE MIRROR," which reflects truth. To allow for unhurried appreciation of the works, THE MIRROR operates on a strict appointment-only basis, offering visitors time to deeply engage with and contemplate art.
The proprietor of THE MIRROR states, "Shakespeare had Hamlet say, 'Hold the Mirror up to nature'—that is, the purpose of drama, of art, is to hold, as it were, the mirror up to nature. The space appearing in Ginza, 'THE MIRROR,' will also be a mirror reflecting the truths of the next era. The entire building will reflect reality, truth, spirit, sensibility, introspection, revelation, inspiration, and human nature. At this time of great change, we hope that the series of seminars held at 'THE MIRROR' will serve as a mirror casting a single ray of light into the chaotic universe."
With Toshio Shimizu (art critic) as the General Producer, Takao Kakizaki (former Shiseido Executive Officer) as the Executive Committee Chair, and Kazuko Koike (creative director) and Kengo Kuma (architect) among the committee members, a multifaceted art event encompassing architecture, design, and talks will unfold throughout the five-story building.
Additionally, a special exhibition, "Rokumeikan," will be held concurrently (planned and curated by Museum Meiji-Mura).
