Live Performance by Borthwick Himself

Born in London in 1962, Mark Borthwick is a photographer currently based in New York. His innovative fashion photography, featured in magazines such as 'Purple' and 'i-D,' and in collaborations with numerous brands, has captivated many. In recent years, he has expanded his practice beyond fashion, continuing to work across diverse fields including photography, music, film, and poetry.

For this exhibition, his first solo show at Taka Ishii Gallery Photography/Film, Borthwick reconfigures his past works, presenting them as slide projections accompanied by his newly written poetry and sound. The works, which pursue light and incorporate its serendipitous qualities, resonate with the poetic words that explore life's truths as if guided by nature, expressing the artist's worldview through the unique medium of slide projection. Poetry readings are collaborated on by artist Hanayo.



At IMA CONCEPT STORE, located within the same building as the gallery, Mark Borthwick will visit Japan for a live performance coinciding with the opening reception. A signing session for the exhibition catalog, released to commemorate the show, will also be held.
