Expressing the Essence of "Plants" Through Pencil Drawings and Digital Collage

RYOONO began his freelance career in 2000 and has since worked on collaborations with a diverse range of companies, including Nike, Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, and H.P.FRANCE, in addition to his own artwork. Furthermore, his dynamic murals, which meticulously pursue graphical quality, have received high acclaim both domestically and internationally.

In his third solo exhibition at hpgrp GALLERY TOKYO, following those in 2008 and 2011, RYOONO expresses "plants"—a symbol of the richness and beauty he consistently pursues—using his signature pencil drawing techniques and digital collage. The exhibition presents not just superficial beauty or a "celebration of life," but also the concept of essential "desire."

In today's world, where the pace of change is accelerating and established concepts are constantly being overturned, RYOONO seeks something absolute and essential, rather than unstable and relative values. We are eager to see RYOONO's new works, fitting for the opening of hpgrp GALLERY TOKYO's new chapter in Minami-Aoyama.
