Mayumi Hosokura was born in Tokyo in 1979. After studying literature at Ritsumeikan University, she graduated from the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art. In her previous series, "KAZAN," she presented works incorporating a wider range of motifs, centered on nudes and minerals. Her work, which calmly observed the contrasting subjects of minerals—symbols of permanence—and young people, with their inherent instability and ephemeral beauty, garnered significant acclaim.

In this exhibition, stripping away elements from her previous work to focus on "nudes" and "crystals," approximately 10 original prints are displayed. Hosokura noted that she was reminded of J.G. Ballard's science fiction novel "The Crystal World" when focusing on the motif of crystals for this exhibition. The world within this story, where everything—people, trees, rivers—is covered in transparent crystals, resonates with the subjects whose crystallized moments are captured, bringing forth the fleeting beauty unique to that which can only exist here.

Additionally, a special edition of "Transparency is the new mystery" will be sold in a limited run of 10 copies to coincide with this exhibition.
