Developed with 'Instant Lab' Using iPhone Light on Instant Film
After Polaroid's withdrawal from instant film production, The Impossible Project has focused on creating instant film for artistic purposes. They have realized numerous collaborations with photographers using their own Integral Instant Film, which emphasizes artistic expression. IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT SPACE in Aobadai, which has garnered attention as a venue for these releases, has decided to temporarily close to further expand its artistic activities.
The exhibition marking this finale is 'Ame' by Hajime Sawatari. Born in Tokyo in 1940, Sawatari's talent blossomed during his high school years. He began his freelance career in 1966 and gained significant acclaim with his 1973 works 'NADIA' and 'Alice in Wonderland.' For over half a century since, he has continued to work without compromising his aesthetic. His works, including portraits of actors and models, consistently unveil new realms of imagination for the viewer.
For this exhibition, 'Ame,' Sawatari utilizes the 'INSTANT LAB' to project images onto instant film using the light emitted from an iPhone. This process conjures a collection of photographs imbued with a unique nuance, befitting the finale of IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT SPACE.
