Daisuke Yokota's Photography Exhibition: Filling NACC with Images That Envelop the World

Yokota, a contemporary photography artist with high acclaim both domestically and internationally, has radically explored the issues of image and materiality in photography, using urban landscapes and people as his subjects. This process simultaneously reveals that our world is constructed through the transformation of the "visible" and the "invisible." Yokota's exhibitions present "photographs as foreign objects," rather than typical photography shows.
New, large-scale prints, displayed across the entire NACC floor, are dynamically laid out on the floor, allowing visitors to walk upon the photographs.
For the "multiplication" exhibition at NACC, a curator's statement was released as follows:
"In the city, things are born and disappear at high speed. Spaces, time, people, and objects alike cannot escape the flux of creation and change within the turbulence. Daisuke Yokota's 'photographs' are like unsettling leaks, seeping out from the system. The origin of these leaks is unknown, and no one can stop them. 'That itself,' which cannot be called life or death, continues to multiply, infecting all things and people. Yes, these unsettling photographs will, in themselves, proliferate and envelop this world."
Why not visit "multiplication," an anarchic photography exhibition that marks the end of NACC, which opened for a limited one-year run as a playground for enjoying art without order?
