Opening Ceremony's "TOKYO CULTURAL NETWORK PROJECT" collaborates with unique and individualistic creators active in Tokyo to disseminate diverse cultures from around the world. The fourth installment is the latest exhibition by Ari Marcopoulos, one of the photographers loved by numerous artists despite his independent status.
Ari Marcopoulos is known for his beautiful portrait works of various artists, friends, and family, including a photobook of the Beastie Boys, Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, Chloë Sevigny, and Robert Mapplethorpe. His activities are diverse, including work for cultural magazines such as "Purble Magazine" and "the journal," and videos for renowned brands like Supreme, earning him support from fans worldwide.
Taku Takemura, the curator of this exhibition, commented, "Many years have passed since I first encountered Marcopoulos and his work. I recently realized there's another reason I continue to follow his work, beyond the beauty and interest of his photography. He is photographing Marcopoulos himself, not a documentary of what's beyond the lens. I feel I finally understand the meaning of his words, which he told me before: 'It's not about taking beautiful photos, but why you take them.'"

The exhibition at "OPENING CEREMONY OMOTESANDO" will feature six previously unreleased prints, and a photo diary of Tokyo by Marcopoulos, who will visit Japan for this exhibition, will be released on the website (http://www.openingceremonyjapan.com).
