Krank x Yuta Nishiura Collaboration Show Held

yuta nishiura at SAVOIR VIVRE in Roppongi Axis BuildingYuta Nishiura, who recently concluded his successful show "yuta nishiura at SAVOIR VIVRE" in the Roppongi Axis Building, will hold a collaborative exhibition with antique shop "Krank" from May 6 (Mon) to 11 (Sat) at "Galerie wa2" in Aoyama, Tokyo. The show will feature a wide selection of furniture brought from distant lands and times by Krank, available for sale, alongside works from "Krank x yuta nishiura" where Nishiura has applied his carvings to these pieces.

Could Someone Who Sat Here Have Imagined This?

Consider a small chair, crafted in Belgium perhaps a century ago. Someone, long gone from this world, made it, and someone else, charmed by it, brought it into their daily life.

Within that person's daily routine, it might have been sat upon by various individuals, moved from place to place, sometimes put away, other times brought out.

Perhaps it was stained by spilled wine. Perhaps a child, in playful mischief, carved their mark upon it. Could anyone who sat in this chair have ever imagined it journeying across the sea to Japan?

This 100-year-old chair (top photo) is neither destined for a museum display nor to settle into the daily life of a new owner.

In this exhibition, antique shop "Krank" and wood sculptor Yuta Nishiura have intervened in its journey, adding their touch—a touch more deliberate than a grown-up spilling wine, perhaps, but not unlike a child's earnest mischief in carving graffiti.

The venue will showcase and sell numerous pieces of furniture brought by Krank from distant lands and times, alongside the "Krank x yuta nishiura" collaborative works.
