Shiro marunouchi
One becomes a hundred.
A small box that makes you realize ninety-nine joys by holding one happy thing.
On Saturday, April 27, 2019, the gallery space "Shiro marunouchi" will open in Marunouchi, Chiyoda Ward. The name "Shiro" (white) originates from the concept of "one becomes a hundred," embodying the wish that visitors to this space will "realize ninety-nine joys by holding one happy thing." To inaugurate the space, an exhibition by potter Shiro Tsujimura will be held from Saturday, April 27, 2019, to Saturday, June 15, 2019. We hope you will take this opportunity to fully appreciate the collection of beautiful works, born from a spirit of dignity and abundant nature.

By holding one happy thing, you realize ninety-nine joys.
Shiro marunouchi is a new gallery space opening in Marunouchi, Chiyoda Ward. The name "Shiro" (white) was chosen from the idea: "One becomes a hundred. A small box that brightens your day by holding one happy thing." While it's not common for a single encounter to dramatically change one's life, if a single encounter allows you to see happiness you hadn't noticed before, it can certainly be called a valuable meeting. To inaugurate the space, an exhibition by potter Shiro Tsujimura is scheduled to be held from Saturday, April 27, 2019, to Saturday, June 15, 2019.
Shiro Tsujimura, born in 1947, is a potter based in Mizunuma, Nara City. Rooted in a land rich with nature, he has built his own kiln, house, tea room, and fields, and has been creating pottery for over 50 years. His works, created amidst nature, possess a simultaneous dignity and beauty, their overwhelming presence captivating viewers. He has garnered high acclaim not only in Japan but also in America and Europe. His works are held in numerous museums, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Brooklyn Museum, Freer Gallery of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and San Francisco Museum of Art in the United States, as well as the British Museum, Stockholm Museum of Art, and Museum of Applied Arts Frankfurt in Europe, establishing him as a globally renowned artist representing Japan.

This exhibition will feature a total of 99 carefully selected works by the artist (including ceramics, paintings, and calligraphy). To commemorate the opening, a limited edition book, "Shiro Tsujimura" (Price: ¥5,400), will also be available for purchase. On the opening day, Saturday, April 27, from 5 PM to 7 PM, a reception will be held with Mr. Tsujimura. Seek an encounter with an exquisite "one" that enriches your daily life, amidst his overwhelming artistic world. What kind of encounter will you have at "Shiro marunouchi"?
