A World of Ultra-High-Definition Photographs Harmonizing Beachgoers and Natural Scenery

Born in Como, Italy, Massimo Vitali studied at the London College of Printing and worked as a freelance photojournalist. He served as a cinematographer for commercials and fiction films, and began shooting with a large-format film camera.

What catapulted Massimo Vitali to global fame was his beach series, capturing fleeting moments on the beach from a high vantage point. Seeking nature away from urban life, he portrays the ecstatic expressions of people gathered on beaches, which serve as a place of relaxation for all. He subsequently expanded his shooting locations to pools, discos, and ski resorts worldwide. His works are artistic achievements that realize a harmony between the momentary gestures and stories of the people present, expressed in the warm, rich colors of his signature analog film, and nature.






The works are shot with a Deardorff 11x14, considered the pinnacle of ultra-large format cameras, and are an impressive 1.8 meters high and 2.4 meters wide. It is only when viewing these extra-large original prints that one can fully appreciate the true value of ultra-high-definition photography.

The works exhibited here are precious pieces, limited to six editions worldwide, set against the backdrops of resorts in Italy, France, Portugal, and Ibiza. Furthermore, Massimo Vitali himself will be present on Monday, July 16. His actual shooting equipment will be set up, and a talk show will be held where he will share behind-the-scenes stories of his rare shoots.
