The Final Chapter of an Exhibition Expressing Childhood Memories in Bristol

Joe Foti, whose art is featured in every issue of Chrome Hearts Magazine, spent his childhood in the small town of Bristol, nestled on the border of Tennessee and Virginia, during the 1960s and 70s.

Six years ago, he visited Bristol in search of inspiration for his art exhibition. Upon returning from this trip, he found he had gathered enough inspiration to warrant a three-part art show.

The first chapter, held in 2013, explored the town's early history and its Civil War past, interwoven with his own childhood recollections.

In the second chapter, presented in 2015, the theme shifted to a town in transition, where familiar landmarks were disappearing and charming, historic buildings, filled with memories, were being demolished and replaced by uninspired, unattractive structures.

The third and final chapter, opening now, expresses his cherished memories and his youthful desire to leave Bristol for the vibrant energy of a big city.

In 1978, Foti's family moved from Tennessee to the bustling metropolis of Atlanta, Georgia. He recalls, “It felt like suddenly stepping from a black-and-white world into color. Moving to such a diverse city was like discovering a new, incredible drug that awakened my mind.”

Foti has traveled to many places around the world, but he expresses the memories of this small town, which he will never forget.
