Over 200 Works Exhibited Together

Yuko Okazaki's ceramic works express her profound appreciation for the beauty of nature—from flora and fauna to the changing seasons—resonating with the spirit of Art Nouveau.

Her pieces, such as those with gracefully soaring dragonfly reliefs on soft white glaze, blend seamlessly into daily life while retaining an elegant, modern aesthetic, reminding us to cherish and enjoy our everyday moments.

The Yuko Okazaki exhibition "PETAL: Vessels of Petals" is now on view at Tomio Koyama Gallery. Featuring over 200 works, the exhibition showcases bowls decorated with three-dimensional PETAL (petal) motifs, some adorned with as many as 200 petals, alongside vessels with gold accents on white, reminiscent of butterflies fluttering around flowers.

For this exhibition, Okazaki delved deeper into the floral motifs that have frequently appeared in her past works, stating, "I traced the memories of flowers I saw in my childhood, carefully crafting each petal with my own fingers until my fingerprints remained."

Okazaki describes the process as "a wonderfully fun and mysterious experience, like diving headfirst into the world unfolding within the vessel." The vibrant, standing petals adorn the vessels like delicate lace decorating a dress.
