Presenting the New Installation "SPECTRUM"
Tokujin Yoshioka is highly acclaimed both in Japan and internationally for his works born from free-spirited ideas and experimental technologies across a wide range of fields, including design, art, and architecture. He has consistently focused on the relationship between nature and humanity, pursuing and researching the sensations that light brings.
In 2013, his solo exhibition "TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA_Crystallize" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo featured "Rainbow Church - Rainbow Church," created with prisms.
Furthermore, at the "54th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition" held in 2011, he presented the architectural project "Tea House - KOUAN," which was later installed on the grand stage of the Shogunduka Seiryuden at Tendai-shu Shoren-in Monzeki, a designated Important Cultural Property in Kyoto, in 2015. By integrating the glass tea house with natural light, he sought to reveal the essence of Japanese culture that exists within our senses, attracting global attention.
This exhibition will present the new installation "SPECTRUM," where light created by the infinite colors born from nature, science, and technology fills the entire space, allowing visitors to experience mystical light.
Light is dispersed through transparent, multifaceted prism sculptures, releasing spectral, rainbow-colored rays. This powerful and beautiful spectacle captivates viewers.
