Pursuit of "Comfort" and "Harmony"

Contemporary artist D[di:], active in various fields including novels, manga, illustration, painting, and music, will hold a solo exhibition for the first time in a year.

A key characteristic of D[di:]'s work is the creation of pieces using a unique painting style called "Harmonic Paint," which incorporates diverse materials such as beeswax and glass.

The exhibition "The DOOR: Self-Regression / THE LETTER from the future, past, somewhere" will showcase the latest works utilizing "Harmonic Orgone Paint," a new technique that combines "orgone," made by solidifying resin with metal fragments and crystals, with the traditional "Harmonic Paint."

Regarding this exhibition, D[di:] commented, "Around 2011, I began incorporating a method of assembling works by viewing flowers and plants drawn with blue lines as individual cells. During that time, I received a commission to wrap the wall of an elevator in a commercial facility. People's reactions were consistently 'It's comfortable. If this weren't an elevator, I'd want to stay here longer. It feels refreshing, even in midsummer.' This experience led me to begin my exploration of 'comfort' and 'harmony.' I studied powerful symbols based on the golden ratio and the logarithmic spiral growth patterns of plants. Harmonic Paint is a technique to multidimensionally capture the time and power of existence within a two-dimensional canvas. Furthermore, I started incorporating 'orgone,' a simple device that can purify energy semi-permanently, into my paintings. For me, art, at this point, is nothing less than conveying my philosophy by repeatedly drawing and developing mandalas that visualize it."
