Great East Japan EarthquakeHeld to mark the first anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, this is one of a series of exhibitions titled "Remembrance 3.11" at Nikon Salon. The exhibition by Kazuhiko Washio, "On the Horizon," introduces his work, which is part of this series featuring multiple photographers including Naoki Ishikawa. The exhibition displays 40 black-and-white photographs, taken while traveling along the Tohoku coast after the earthquake, capturing the "traces" left behind.
During the exhibition (in Shinjuku only), a symposium titled "Photography and Words – What Lies Beyond Documentation" will be held on March 16 (Friday) with author and poet Natsuki Ikezawa, photographer Taku Arai, and photo critic Mariko Takeuchi. In conjunction with this exhibition, a limited edition photobook, "On the Horizon," has been published.
