Film screenings and workshops also held during the exhibition period.
Deutsche Bank's contemporary art collection is considered among the world's finest for paper-based works. The exhibition “Time Captured: Contemporary Photography from the Deutsche Bank Collection” features photographic works spanning from the 1970s to the present day, selected from this collection of approximately 60,000 pieces, and is currently being held at the Hara Museum.
The exhibition was conceived to allow visitors to re-examine the appeal of photography through works that harness its characteristic ability to "capture and fix time onto a medium."
Following its initial presentation at the Singapore Art Museum in Autumn 2014, this exhibition is a traveling show that has also been presented at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai, before arriving at the Hara Museum.

The exhibition features works by German photographers such as Bernd & Hilla Becher, Andreas Gursky, and Gerhard Richter, alongside pieces by contemporary Chinese artists who have garnered recent attention, including Cao Fei, JonOne, and Liu Zheng. Japanese artists like Hiroshi Sugimoto, Miwa Yanagi, and Tokihiro Sato are also represented, with a total of approximately 60 works by around 40 artists on display.
During the exhibition, on Wednesdays at 6 PM (excluding holidays), film works by Cao Fei, Julio César Morales, and currently“Cai Guo-Qiang: The Gunpowder Drawings”which is drawing attention at its current Yokohama venue, will be screened. On October 31 (Saturday), a workshop for parents and children led by Tokihiro Sato, who is also exhibiting in this show, is planned.
Each artist captures their own sense of time. Through photography, an art form that freezes moments, this exhibition offers an opportunity to contemplate time anew and to fully appreciate the captivating power of photography as an artistic medium.
