New Work "2015・8・15" Shot on "Near Future" August 15th
Araki, also known as Ararkey, has produced an immense body of work, ranging from intimate subjects and landscapes to pieces that capture society. In recent years, despite events such as the Great East Japan Earthquake and losing sight in his right eye due to illness, he has continued to...His Unwavering Creative Drive...release new works that mark new frontiers, such as 'Love of the Left Eye'.
'Intimate Summer,' which will also feature previously unreleased works, is a multifaceted exhibition showcasing a diverse collection. The latest work, "2015・8・15," is a monochrome piece shot on 35mm film, capturing the "near future" with the date August 15, 2015, by Araki, who has been photographing the Imperial Palace Plaza every year on the anniversary of the end of the war.
In addition, the exhibition includes new works from the 'KIMONO: KaoRi' series, featuring KaoRi in elegant kimonos photographed in the studio over more than a decade of collaboration, as well as works where Araki himself has painted on instant film. The total number of exhibited pieces is said to be 800.
From the summer of the 70th year after the war, captured by Araki who spent his childhood amidst the post-war clamor, to the alluring figures of women. This exhibition offers an opportunity to witness the various facets of Nobuyoshi Araki.
