Documentary Photosession "torch" Underway
The photographic exhibition "torch," featuring the work of Kenta Suzuki and Takaaki Koshiba, two photographers active with OPENERS, delves into the lives of four contemporary craftsmen: acrylic artist Hideto Hyodo, glass artist Masayuki Kanda, jewelry designer Manabu Hoshino, and leather artist Takumi Bando. The exhibition is currently being held at Geodesique, a conceptual boutique and gallery in Aobadai, Nakameguro, and runs until October 5 (Wednesday).

Two Photographers Approach Esteemed Contemporary Artisans Known to Those in the Know
The title "torch" signifies a light illuminating the future of craftsmanship. Acrylic, metal, glass, and minerals──While each artist works with diverse materials, their creations, defying conventional imagination, are imbued with strong individuality, conviction, and sensibility, hinting at the stoic dedication they bring to their craft.
Takaaki Koshiba closely followed the artists in their studios, capturing the warmth of their expressions and movements in the act of creation. Meanwhile, Kenta Suzuki focused on the hands and tools imbued with the artisans' spirit, portraying them in a low-key tone and a unique visual style.
