Good Neighbors Jamboree Celebrates 10th Anniversary

EVENT | A Cross-Culture Festival Held at a Forest School

Featuring SILENT POETS SPECIAL DUB BAND, Asatte Inc., Kyoko Koizumi, and more

The "Good Neighbors Jamboree," themed around "what can be communicated from local communities," began in 2010 at the site of a former school in Minamikyushu City, Kagoshima Prefecture. It has since grown into a beloved summer tradition in Kagoshima, celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday, August 24th. The special guest live performance will feature SILENT POETS, whose album released last year after a 12-year hiatus garnered significant attention, accompanied by their SPECIAL DUB BAND. Expectations are high for this milestone event.

Over 100 Contents and Workshops Unfold

The "Good Neighbors Jamboree" is a cross-culture festival where one can enjoy music, crafts, design, art, dance, photography, film, literature, and food amidst nature. It has been held annually since 2010 at a former school, characterized by its nearly 100-year-old wooden buildings and a symbolic tree in the schoolyard.

This year's live stage will feature performances by SILENT POETS SPECIAL DUB BAND, otto&orabu, and Kazumi Nikaido with LAGBAG MUSIC ORCHESTRA, among others. At the "Good Neighbors College," a learning space utilizing the wooden school buildings, there will be a reading session titled "Pre yomuyomu" by Kyoko Koizumi of Asatte Inc. and others, as well as a rakugo performance by Rakugoka Kohatsu Takigawa.

With over 100 contents and workshops planned for the day, it is sure to be a day where everyone from children to adults can enjoy themselves through listening, learning, and seeing. Information is updated regularly on the website, so please take a look.
