A Forest Gathering in the City: "more trees night"
On July 15th (Thursday) at 7:30 PM, amidst a gentle rain, the first "more trees night" was held at Restaurant-I in Harajuku. This event was planned by the forest conservation organization "more trees," headed by musicianRyuichi Sakamototo raise awareness of its activities among a wider audience.

First Guest: Art Director Mitsuo Miura
The main content of this series is a talk show featuring one of the approximately 160 "more trees" supporters and Mr. Shinkichi Mizutani, the director of the "more trees" secretariat. This is followed by a standing reception party. A portion of the participation fee goes towards "more trees" activities and forest conservation efforts. For this inaugural event, the guest was Mitsuo Miura, renowned as one of Japan's leading art directors, also known for his work as a film director and calligrapher. The talk's theme was "Forests, Biodiversity, and Animal Welfare."
Mr. Miura shared his thoughts, stating, "I'm not particularly fond of the current state of society. I want to change it, even just a little."
Regarding his endorsement of "more trees," he explained, "The message 'more trees' is wonderful and impossible to oppose. I agreed immediately when Ryuichi Sakamoto, whom I've known for about eight years, asked me to join."

Mr. Miura, who is also the art director for COP10 on biodiversity to be held in Nagoya this October, emphasized the importance of biodiversity while showcasing posters and videos featuring honorary ambassador MISIA. Attendees enjoyed the cuisine and drinks from Restaurant-I while listening intently to the talk.
"more trees night" will continue to be held. It takes place on the third Thursday of every month, as "mori" (forest) is composed of three "ki" (trees) characters. The venue is Restaurant-I, with a capacity of 30 participants. Anyone can attend, but a lottery will be held if applications exceed the capacity. The guest for August is game creator Kenji Eno.
