Proposing New Cuisine for a Transforming Kanazawa
Last year, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, celebrated its 10th anniversary with the exhibition "The Taste of Curiosity: A Museum of Curiosity." The museum invited food creator Ayako Suwa as an artist to explore the themes of "flavor" and "taste," presenting a unique and diverse program that could be experienced through the palate. One of these programs, "Guerrilla Restaurant," is an event where a full-course meal is served in unexpected, guerrilla-style locations.
This year's venue is none other than Omicho Market, affectionately known as the "citizens' kitchen" that supports Kanazawa's food culture. Amidst the city's major transformation with the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, Food Creation, led by Ayako Suwa, will propose new culinary values. This event, held in collaboration with the Omicho Market Shopping Street Promotion Association, is scheduled to appear a total of five times over the two days.
Ayako Suwa is deeply connected to Kanazawa, having graduated from Kanazawa College of Art. Since 2006, she has been active in food creation under the slogan "Delivering concepts straight to your stomach." In 2008, she held the exhibition "Design of Appetite: Emotional Tastes Experienced Through the Senses" at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa's Design Gallery.
