Valentine's Season: Traces of Your Skates Become a Visual Spectacle

The traces left by couples skating on the ice rink will be projected as a visual experience in "Skate Drawing," an interactive media art installation. This event will take place on the evenings of February 11 (Wed) through February 14 (Sat) at the ice skating rink adjacent to Tokyo Midtown.

Conceptualized by Creative Collective Known for Perfume's Live Shows

The venue is the "Diners Club Ice Rink in Tokyo Midtown." Participants will wear special equipment provided at a dedicated counter. Up to five pairs can participate simultaneously; pairs can consist of not only couples but also parent-child or friends. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. While participation in the event is free, the ice rink usage fee applies.

The concept comes from Rhizomatiks, a globally recognized creative group known for their work on Perfume's live performances, among other projects. Founded in 2006, Rhizomatiks is a select group of creators covering a wide range of media, including web and interactive spatial design. They have received numerous accolades, including awards at Ars Electronica, the Prix Ars Electronica, the Japan Media Arts Festival, and the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

This event is the sixth installment of the "Idea Realization Project," which brings the ideas of Japan's leading creators to life in the streets of Roppongi. Past projects include "Furusato Seal," which produced and distributed seals designed in the shapes of Japan's prefectures based on the concept of Michihiko Yanai.

It is also part of "MEDIA AMBITION TOKYO," a showcase of cutting-edge technology art centered around Roppongi Hills, held concurrently. Last year's event attracted approximately 110,000 visitors.

This event offers a unique opportunity to skate with a loved one, be it a partner or family, and then witness the beautiful trails you create together. It's a perfect way to make a memorable Valentine's Day.
