To commemorate the opening of "BMW Studio ONE," BMW has collaborated with toy maker Medicom Toy to create BMW BE@RBRICK (in three sizes), their signature bear-shaped block-style figures.

These BMW BE@RBRICK figures will be sold at "BMW Studio ONE," a large greenhouse where the new BMW Gran Turismo is exhibited. A portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to "Global Village," an NGO that provides information and raises awareness about environmental and poverty issues.

The BMW BE@RBRICK is the first BE@RBRICK to be made from 30% recycled plastic, featuring a sky-blue pattern inspired by BMW Efficient Dynamics. Each design embodies BMW's new philosophy of BMW Efficient Dynamics, which achieves improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions while delivering unparalleled performance. The BMW emblem is also printed on the chest.

What does "Sustainability" mean to Medicom Toy's Tatsuhiko Akashi?

Q. In your work or daily life, have you ever been conscious of being "sustainable"?

Lately, young people often ask me, "Why are you so polite to us too?" I dislike having a strange hierarchy; this has been my stance since I was old enough to understand. Many people change their attitude abruptly based solely on age differences. However, treating everyone with the same demeanor often leads to positive outcomes.

Q. When does that happen?

When the young people I meet start to make a name for themselves! Just kidding (laughs). Values differ subtly between generations. But when you interact with everyone without changing your approach, you realize that while the way things are expressed and superficial aspects may differ, the fundamental inner core remains the same. In other words, the core of humanity is sustained and hasn't changed much.

Q. Have you had any recent impressive experiences that felt "sustainable"?

Conversely, there are things that I feel won't last. For example, product sampling at event venues. People are happy to receive them at the moment, but I feel they don't remain once you get home and time passes. Instead, people cherish photos taken with friends making funny faces at the venue much more. In essence, humans are creatures who value and sustain experiences and memories.
