What Matters is the Stance of Thinking, Acting, and Communicating Clearly, or Trying to Share
With the widespread adoption of the internet and smartphones, the world's distances are shrinking, and people's lives and daily consciousness are undergoing significant change. At the same time, opportunities to question societal imbalances, ethics, and values are increasing. Against this backdrop, driven by the question, "What is important in this era is to think, act, and communicate clearly, or to try to share even a little of what is happening around the world?" this exhibition takes "Design of Activity" as its theme. Rather than limiting itself to tangible creations, it focuses on the will and actions aimed at understanding societal challenges and solving problems.
The exhibition is directed by Noriko Kawakami, a journalist well-versed in design movements in Japan and globally, and Ikuko Yokoyama, who continues to work as an art and design curator based in Stockholm.
Exhibits include over 500 sweaters knitted by an 80-year-old woman since the 1950s, a landmine removal device developed with inspiration from childhood memories, the "Fixperts" project which encourages "repair and improvement" to solve everyday problems, and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) that consider the future of the world brought about by technological innovation.
Beyond the framework of making things, why not experience the potential of design in a changing world through the "Design of Activity" exhibition, which offers many insights into the role of design in future society?
