Max Roach passed away on August 15, 2007.

He was a jazz drummer known to every jazz fan.
He performed with artists such as Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Sonny Rollins, and Miles Davis, and also fully participated in Duke Ellington's 1962 album 'The Jungle.'
Even those unfamiliar with Max Roach have likely heard his music somewhere.

He was also an active participant in the Civil Rights Movement, the struggle for equal status as American citizens by people of color in the 1950s and 60s.

I suspect I'm not the only one who has been listening to his music daily at home and at work since his passing. To those fellow Max Roach fans, I wish to share a portrait of Max Roach from my personal photograph collection.
