This Year's Keyword: "The Sun is Moving It"
Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, Ryuichi Sakamoto has been involved in various disaster relief projects and has advocated for the promotion of renewable energy.Last year, the year before, he has once again been chosen as the "face of solar power generation" for XSOL's commercials. This year's campaign, with the keyword "The Sun is Moving It," features Sakamoto performing a song newly composed for the commercial, with all electronic instruments powered by solar energy.
The making-of video available on the XSOL website offers a documentary-style look at the process leading up to the main shoot, showing the assembly of solar panels in the city, power generation, and the supply of electricity to the instruments before Sakamoto's appearance. Additionally, an interview with Sakamoto is featured, where he discusses the inspiration behind the song, described as an "anthem for solar power generation," and his unique concept of "wanting to perform using natural energy since around 2000."
In addition to the commercials, advertisements are also running in newspapers, magazines, and online. Sakamoto can be seen playing in front of solar panels in various scenes.
This summer marks the third year since Sakamoto began appearing in XSOL's commercials. Solar power is no longer just "energy of the future"; it now symbolizes an indispensable and crucial energy source.
