Isetan Shinjuku to Host First-Ever Brazil Fair

With the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ this June, and the Rio de Janeiro Olympics two years from now, Brazil is the country capturing the world’s attention. From April 30 (Wed.), Mitsukoshi Isetan will present its first-ever Brazil fair, “Abraços do Brasil,” to showcase Brazil’s essential charm, still largely unknown in Japan, and its latest trends.

Brazil’s Little-Known Fashion & Culture

Brazil, a rapidly growing nation and one of the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), is a hotbed of new trends in fashion, food, art, and more. Isetan Shinjuku has turned its focus to this vibrant, evolving Brazil.

At The Stage on the main building's first floor, Isetan Shinjuku will offer the Japanese debut of the “SOUL COLLECTION” sneakers, made with soles from the sandal brand Havaianas, alongside custom-made “MYOH” sandals where customers can combine straps and soles. The Rio de Janeiro brand Osklen, renowned for its beautiful designs and patterns, will present lightweight cover-ups, including botanical prints. From Brazil, rich in accessories made from natural materials, selections include bracelets from Coloridas made with açaí seeds, perfect for everyday wear.

During the event, Mauricio de Sousa, creator of the beloved Brazilian comic strip “Monica’s Gang,” will be present for a signing event, and original merchandise such as stationery will also be available.

Experience Authentic Brazilian Flavors This Golden Week!

At the Kitchen Stage on the main building's basement first floor, food coordinator Mari Hirata, a third-generation Brazilian of Japanese descent, will present special menus. Dishes like feijoada (a stew of meat and beans) and pão de queijo (a type of cheese bread), common home-style cooking, will be adapted to suit Japanese palates.

Also on the basement first floor, at Food Collection, Carioca, a Brazilian restaurant produced by Rui Ramos, will have a special pop-up. Enjoy classic Brazilian dishes like feijoada and pão de queijo on-site. Additionally, craft beers from popular brands like Colorado, made with Brazilian nuts, and unique offerings from Kaiser and CKBR S.A. will be available.

Furthermore, in the restaurant area Eat Paradise / La Table Ediale on the main building's seventh floor, a beef steak generously seasoned with molho campanha, a classic Brazilian vinaigrette, will be served as a French-style open-faced sandwich.

Brazilian Photographer Comes to Japan!

Marcelo Gomes, a rising photographer from Brazil based in New York who has shot for fashion magazines such as Harper's BAZAAR and Dazed & Confused, will hold a photo session. Original雑貨 (miscellaneous goods) and T-shirts are also planned for sale.
