The world's first all-handmade eyewear using thinned domestic cedar.
The general incorporated association “more trees” (more trees) has produced eyewear in collaboration with the eyewear brand “OLIVER PEOPLES”. More trees is a forest conservation organization led by musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. With the keyword “Connecting Cities and Forests,” it promotes forest development while playing a role in conveying the blessings of forests to cities, including the spread of “carbon offsets” (※) and the expansion of domestic timber use.
In addition, forest maintenance in nine locations from Hokkaido to Kyushu,Reforestation project in the Philippinesand other projects both domestically and internationally aimed at restoring the multifaceted functions of forests, such as water retention and biodiversity. After theGreat East Japan Earthquakeon March 11, 2011, it launched the disaster-stricken area support project “LIFE311” from the perspective of forests and forestry, promoting the construction of wooden temporary housing and the installation of wood pellet stoves.

These glasses, named “OLIVER PEOPLES for more trees with Ryuichi Sakamoto,” are handmade in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. The collection features three models: “OPMT-1” and “OPMT-2,” limited to 100 pairs worldwide each, which combine thinned domestic cedar with “M49,” a bio-plastic derived from plants developed by the Italian eyewear frame material manufacturer “MAZZUCCHELLI,” and “OPMT-3,” made solely from M49.
The case, inspired by a piano, is made from “more trees leather,” domestic deer leather that more trees promotes the use of. Naturally, they are made in Japan, and the included lens cloth features an original logo. A portion of the sales from these products will be donated to more trees.
