Non-Fiction W: Ryuichi Sakamoto's 700 Days – MUSIC, ART & LIFE
Ryuichi Sakamoto is featured in WOWOW's popular documentary series, "Non-Fiction W." The documentary, "Non-Fiction W: Ryuichi Sakamoto's 700 Days – MUSIC, ART & LIFE," which closely followed him for approximately two years, will be broadcast on November 28 (Saturday) at 8:15 PM.

An Extended 700-Day Close-Up
"Non-Fiction W" has consistently stimulated the intellectual curiosity of adults by focusing on influential figures from various fields. Its high quality has earned it numerous awards. Notably, the episode featuring contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto was nominated for an International Emmy Award in the Arts Programming, showcasing its reputation for producing excellent content.
The broadcast on November 28 (Saturday) will feature Ryuichi Sakamoto, who composed the program's theme song, "Litany." The program reportedly involved an extended, 700-day close-up filming period.
During these approximately two years, Sakamoto was actively involved as a guest director for the "Sapporo International Art Festival 2014," but shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with throat cancer and forced to take a break. The program captures the art festival held during his absence, and then follows the creation of the original soundtrack for director Yoji Yamada's "Living with My Mother." Through this process, it explores the realm where the Maestro's music and art intersect.Sapporo International Art Festival 2014the art festival held during his absence, and then follows the creation of the original soundtrack for director Yoji Yamada's "Living with My Mother." A Documentary Photo Exhibition Capturing the Music Production Process
Furthermore, in December, a documentary photo exhibition titled "Behind the Tracks," which chronicles the music production for "Living with My Mother," will be held. For this work, Sakamoto composed music at "Red Bull Studios Tokyo," which recently opened in Shibuya, Tokyo, this spring. Hong Kong-born photographer Wing Shya, also known for his work as a film director, captures the atmosphere of the production site.Red Bull Studios TokyoThe photo exhibition is divided into two parts, with different locations and content. Part 1, held on December 12 (Saturday) and 13 (Sunday), is an immersive, small-group "experiential" exhibition at Red Bull Studios Tokyo, where Sakamoto composed the music. Visitors can experience the music production process while listening to the finished tracks. Part 2, held on December 19 (Saturday) and 20 (Sunday) at BANK GALLERY in Harajuku, will feature excerpts from Sakamoto's first interview since his return, displayed alongside photographs.

In recent years, the Maestro has been active not only as a musician but also across the art world. What does he see beyond his recovery from a serious illness? This autumn, we invite you to witness Sakamoto's "now" through two distinct mediums: film and photography.
