Showcasing Diverse Works: Sculptures, Paintings, Woodcuts, and Silkscreens

Stephan Doitschinoff was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1977. Raised as the son of an evangelical pastor, Doitschinoff absorbed the visual vocabulary of religious art, leading him to develop his unique expressive methods involving alchemy.

Based in São Paulo, he is recognized as one of the top artists active in the Brazilian art scene today. His works have been exhibited at museums and galleries across the United States, Brazil, and Europe, including the São Paulo Museum of Art and the San Diego Museum of Art.

Titled 'JUREMA PRETA,' meaning 'black jurema,' this exhibition marks his first solo show in Japan. It features a diverse range of works, primarily focusing on female figures, including ceramic sculptures, paintings, woodcuts, silkscreens, lithographs, and installations. Through his unique approach, which combines Afro-Brazilian folklore with baroque religious iconography, Doitschinoff presents works in his distinct and striking style.

During the exhibition, Gestalten, a German publisher known for its contemporary art books, will also be selling Doitschinoff's second monograph, 'CRAS.' The energetic and original works from Doitschinoff, who was born and raised in São Paulo, are reaching Japan from the other side of the globe and are being met with great admiration.
