DIESEL ART GALLERY, curated by lifestyle brand DIESEL, will host "DIMENSION MEDIA," a solo exhibition by new-generation artist COIN PARKING DELIVERY, who creates graphics using a smartphone. The exhibition runs from Saturday, September 11, 2021, to Thursday, January 13, 2022. In conjunction with this, a collaboration menu will be available at GLORIOUS CHAIN CAFÉ, also operated by DIESEL.
Collaboration Menu Offers a Taste of the Six Senses
DIESEL ART GALLERY, operated by lifestyle brand DIESEL, is known as a space where visitors can casually encounter avant-garde works and emerging artists that cannot be seen elsewhere.
Located within the concept store "DIESEL SHIBUYA," its accessibility in Shibuya is a major draw. It is gaining significant attention as a hub for the latest art.
DIESEL ART GALLERY is now presenting "DIMENSION MEDIA," a solo exhibition by COIN PARKING DELIVERY, a new-generation artist who creates graphics using a smartphone.
COIN PARKING DELIVERY began their creative journey in 2018, drawing with their finger on a smartphone during train commutes. Holding the essential modern device, they create works that reflect the questions and ideals of our current era, earning acclaim both domestically and internationally.
"DIMENSION MEDIA" merges the "two-dimensional interpretation" of Japanese art forms, developed through lifestyle, with Western art's "three-dimensional interpretation," which evolved towards greater realism to gain popular recognition in worlds created through idol worship.
It objectively captures the unique hybrid society of Japan, which has developed by coexisting two cultures that cannot exist independently. The structures within the works express the layering of various businesses through texture.
Additionally, to commemorate the "DIMENSION MEDIA" exhibition, special collaboration items with DIESEL and limited-time menu items inspired by the exhibition's artworks will be available at GLORIOUS CHAIN CAFÉ.
The main visual for "DIMENSION MEDIA" is inspired by "Rokkon Shojo" (purification of the six senses), which signifies the cleansing of mind and body by cutting off desires arising from the six senses. The plant-based collaboration menu, which is gentle on both the planet and the body, has been created as an experience related to the sense of taste (tongue root), one of the six senses, to help visitors more deeply understand the artist's intent.
GLORIOUS CHAIN CAFÉ and DIESEL ART GALLERY are located on the 1st and B1F of DIESEL SHIBUYA, DIESEL's flagship store, respectively, allowing visitors to experience both food and art simultaneously.
