“11 Friends” Exhibition by JYUUICHI

From November 22 (Tue) to 30 (Wed), UTRECHT will host an exhibition centered around “11 Freunde,” a magazine hailed as “the best fan magazine available in Germany.”

“Elf Freunde müsst ihr sein” — You must be 11 friends to win.

This event, curated by Berlin-based JYUUICHI, focuses on the enduring football culture that stems from the phrase “Elf Freunde müsst ihr sein” (You must be 11 friends), inscribed on the plate of the trophy awarded to the German football champions in 1903.

The exhibition will feature a series of photographs titled “SCHOOL TEAM,” capturing the unique camaraderie of children’s football teams, as well as video works by Hans Van der Meer, known for his photo collections of matches in Europe’s lower leagues. Rare back issues of “11 Freunde” will also be available for purchase.

Additionally, as part of the related project “PASS for TOHOKU by JYUUICHI,” we will collect used footballs at NOW IDeA and deliver them to children in Tohoku. Please bring any unwanted footballs during the exhibition period.
