EVENT | Designing Craftsmanship: The Modern Guild of Handicrafts.

Promoting activities that convey the joy of "thinking and making" to society at large.

Holding "Gendai Shugyo no To" (The Modern Craftsmen's Party) to Design Manufacturing.

Gendai Shugyo no To is an organization of designers and craftspeople who handle everything from design to production in the manufacturing process. What they pursue daily is a new category of product: "modern handicrafts," distinct from mass-produced goods, high-end imports, antiques, or traditional crafts. Their 2011 exhibition will be held from Saturday, October 29th to Monday, October 31st, at Light Box Studio Aoyama in Aoyama.

Featuring a special guest to promote "Japan, a Nation of Manufacturing" with the "torch" photo exhibition.

The NPO Gendai Shugyo no To aims to inherit the manufacturing culture built by our predecessors, develop it with unique sensibilities, and pass it on to the next generation.──In parallel with regularly holding exhibitions, the core of their activities lies in members contributing to the organization's website (http://modern-mp.com/) once a month with columns titled "From the Workshop," sharing insights from the real manufacturing scene from their individual perspectives.

At the exhibition, artists will present their works, manufacturers their products, and those specializing in processing techniques will showcase items developed in collaboration with external designers.
