Shidax Culture Village Art Wall Project: Volume 1

Mick Itaya's "Stars and Hearts Angels" Illuminate Shibuya

The first installment of the "Art Wall" project, which adorns the walls of Shidax Culture Village (CULTURE WORKS / formerly Shibuya Denki-kan) in Shibuya, Tokyo, with luminous decorations, has arrived. As part of an art project produced by lyricist and poet Yukinojo Mori, Mick Itaya's work "Stars and Hearts Angels" is a colossal illumination. A lighting ceremony was held at Shibuya Shidax Village on the evening of Friday, November 29th.

Your Wish Can Save Refugees Worldwide

Shidax's charity initiative, "One Wish for One Meal," begins with customers dropping a message card with their wish into a mailbox installed at 310 Shidax restaurants, karaoke establishments, and specialty restaurants nationwide. For each card received, Shidax donates 50 yen to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Association (Japan Committee for UNHCR). The campaign runs until Wednesday, January 15, 2014.

This donation will provide a fortified nutritional supplement (approximately 50 yen per pack) to refugee children around the world. This supplement, a vitamin-enriched peanut butter-based food (500 kcal per pack), is designed for malnourished children. It contains peanut paste, sugar, vegetable fat, skim milk, vitamins, and minerals, requiring no preparation and being consumable in any environment.

At the lighting ceremony, Becky was the first to drop a message card into the "One Wish for One Meal" mailbox, entrusting her wish: "May the smiles in the world increase."

A Wish of Love Connects to Peace

The "Art Wall" project, which illuminates the facade of Shibuya's Shidax Culture Village, is a platform for diverse artists to showcase their work, produced by Yukinojo Mori. The first collaboration in this series is with visual artist Mick Itaya.

Regarding the current "One Wish for One Meal Illumination '13-'14," Mick Itaya shared a message: "One wish saves a refugee child. A wish of love connects to peace. It is wonderful that art can provide tangible help."
