"Good Neighbors Jamboree" is a summer festival where creativity from all genres—music, crafts, design, art, photography, film, literature, food, and more—converges. This year, over 70 creators are expected to participate, including live performances by Hanaregumi, Suming (an indigenous artist from Taiwan), and otto&orabu; art and craft workshops led by photographer Shingo Wakagi and others; food stalls by popular restaurants; and shops featuring products from local artisans.
The core theme of Good Neighbors Jamboree is "to transmit from local communities." The venue is "Kawanabe Forest School" (formerly Hase Elementary School), characterized by its large camphor tree standing in the schoolyard and its historic auditorium, nearly 100 years old.
In addition to the direct tour buses from Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka, this year offers optional tours for visitors from afar to further explore Kagoshima's charms the day after the Jamboree.Editor Jin OkamotoThese tours allow you to visit famous spots featured in the popular Kagoshima guidebook "My Kagoshima Guide" by editor Jin Okamoto, savor "Katsuo Funado Meshi" (bonito boatman's meal) in Makurazaki City, the top bonito producer in Japan, or explore courses around the hot spring region of Kirishima or the active volcano Sakurajima. Choosing your preferred course is part of the appeal.
Come to a festival where you can enjoy creative activities across all genres amidst nature, a festival that everyone participates in creating.
