Catalog Featuring All Works and Designer Comments Published
Souvenirs are cherished mementos of travel, gifts for oneself, family, or friends. For this exhibition, designers have drawn inspiration from regional specialties, local cuisine, famous landmarks, and traditional events to conceive entirely new, "fictional" souvenirs from across Japan, designed to be proudly presented to the world. One hundred designers affiliated with the Japan Package Design Association have poured their boundless creativity and refined sensibilities into these designs.
Among the offerings are "Mizuiro Enpitsu" (Light Blue Pencils) from Shiga Prefecture, featuring pencils in various shades of light blue to represent Japan's largest lake, Lake Biwa, and "Kouhukui Mai" (Happy Rice) from Fukui Prefecture, presented in containers shaped like grains of rice. Unique and striking souvenirs, reflecting the culture of each region, are displayed from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south.
To commemorate this project, a catalog featuring the works and designer comments, "Creative Souvenirs of Japan Exhibition Works Catalog," has also been published by Rokuyosha and will be available for sale at the venue.
Whether admiring the creations of the 100 package designers, exploring unexpected regional specialties, or checking in on your own hometown, this exhibition offers a chance to rediscover the allure of souvenirs, elevated to stylish new heights through design and imagination. It is sure to be an insightful experience.
